the Honeycomb Harmonies
As part of the San Diego public art initiative, Park Social, this 20’ wide hexagonal shaped installation is comprised of community painted tire stacks that form points of a hexagon to create an overhead shade structure and musical environment beneath. This installation was installed in different parks in San Diego for a total of 6 events over the course of 2022. It then went on to be exhibited in West Hollywood in a 4-part series commissioned by the City of West Hollywood Art Division’s Art on the Outside in 2023. Then finally, this project went on to be exhibited by the City of Palmdale for the Kaleidoscope Art and Music festival in 2023 and 2024. The environment inside the installation is filled with hand-built xylophones and involves a participatory painting project, creating a celebratory space of communal rhythm and art-making open to all.
